Here’s a chance to get paid for your videos. By joining the Metacafe’s Producer Rewards® Program and uploading videos that meet the guidelines, you can start making some good money. You must be willing to give Metacafe a non-exclusive license to your video, but there’s nothing to worry, as the Producer Rewards® agreement is non-exclusive, you can license the same video to other companies as well.
The hard part is, your videos need to pass through some strict guidelines before you can start to make money with Metacafe. You can read about the guidelines here. Please remember to read the Trends Exhausted section in detail as Metacafe’s Producer Rewards® Program retire exhausted themes and stop accepting videos submitted after the trend was exhausted.

How much can you earn?
After your video starts showing at Metacafe, you would make $2 for every 1,000 views that the video receives in the United States. It’s not hard for a video to get 1,000 views from US audiences if it’s a good one. Here’re some videos at Metacafe that have received tons of views and made some good money at Metacafe. Note: You might not see any earnings beside some videos despite having a huge number of views. That’s because although those videos were accepted by Metacafe in general, those videos were not accepted in the Metacafe’s Producer Rewards® Program.
Your videos must generate 20,000 worldwide views or more at the end of 6 months after they were uploaded and have a VideoRank of 3 or higher when it crosses the 20,000 worldwide views threshold, otherwise the videos won’t be deemed fit for the program and you would get nothing for those videos.
VideoRankTM system gauges each viewer’s reactions to every video – taking dozens of behavioral indicators into account when calculating the number between 1 (low) and 5 (high) that indicates just how entertaining a video is.
Here’re some scenarios in which you won’t earn from your videos:
- Your video gets 20,000 worldviews in 3 months but while doing so, the VideoRank < 3. Even if its VideoRank increases to > 3 at the end of 6 months, your video will not get you any money.
- Your video gets a VideoRank of 5 but doesn’t get 20,000 worldwide views at the end of the first 6 months.
Once your video passes 20,000 views, Metacafe will review it within 3 business days. If your video is accepted, you’ll receive an email welcoming you to the Producer Rewards® program, with further information.
How and when will you receive your payments?
The minimum balance that you need to reach before you can request a payout is $100 and you can select one of the following options once you reach the minimum balance:
- Direct transfer to a PayPal account. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can get one from here.
- A Metacafe-branded pre-paid MasterCard that operates as an ATM card.
- Direct deposit to a U.S. bank account.

3gp, flv, mp4, mov, qt, asf, avi, divx, mpa, mpe, mpeg, mpg, m1v, mkv, wmf and wmv.
Can I submit a video to Producer Rewards® that I already uploaded to Metacafe?
Yes, you can.
Log into your Metacafe account, locate the video under “Submitted Videos” within your User Channel, and click on the “Submit to Producer Rewards®” button. Views accumulated from this point forward count toward payment. Views accumulated previously do not.
