Review of Google Adsense – CPC Ad Network

Posted by Ghatozkat on May 02, 2008

google adsense A person who is trying to make money online must know what Google Adsense is. It’s the biggest and by far the most popular CPC (Cost Per Click) Ad Network. These days, Google Adsense serves CPM Ads as well, so it’s not a CPC only Ad Network. Google Adsense is a fast and easy to use way for publishers of all sizes to display ads on their website and earn money. The program is free to join.

To join Google Adsense, you need to have a website that complies with Google Adsense Program Policies. Those policies are not that tough and your website should get approved unless you are publishing something illegal. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate. After you register with them, you need to wait till the fellows at Google approve your website. Then you can get Ad codes from the Google Adsense site and place them at desired spots on your website. Once you have pasted the code on your page, ads will instantly start appearing. Google Adsense serves contextual ads, which means the advertisement shown in the webpage is relevant to the content of the webpage. Google serves both text as well as image ads. Color, size and font of the ads are customizable which means you can customize the ads to match the look and feel of your website which ensures higher conversions.

Google Adsense has one of the best reporting systems, so you can easily track who clicked what and how much you made for that click.

Google does not stand fraudulent activities. Remember to go through Google Adsense TOS very thoroughly before or after you join them. There are rules to be followed and if you don’t, Google would send you a bye bye email and kick you out. I don’t use Google Adsense anymore because I was not serious earlier, messed with them and got banned. Here’s my story of getting banned from Google Adsense.

What’s the minimum payout and how do they pay?

The minimum account balance that you need to reach before you can cash out is 100 dollars. If your account balance is less than US$100 at the end of a month, they’ll roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Google makes payment via Check, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Western Union Quick Cash or Rapida. Google sends checks to all countries on the globe whereas other payment options are available to publishers from certain countries only. Like payments by Rapida is available only for publishers from Russia.

Can I run Google Adsense ads alongside other ad networks?

Earlier, you were not allowed to run other contextual ads on the same page of your website that contained Google Adsense ads, however non-contextual ads from other systems were allowed. Now you can run ads from any other ad networks (contextual or non-contextual) with Google Adsense contextual ads provided that:

  1. The TOS of other ad systems you choose allows ads served by other contextual ads system (like Google Adsense) to run on the same page.
  2. The look and feel of the Google Adsense Ads you place on your website is not similar to that of other ads you are serving on your website.

Here’s the sign up link to Google Adsense once again.
