Different Ad Formats available at AdBrite:

• Text and Banner Ads : Paid on either CPC or CPM basis, these are either plain text or image ads.
• Full Page Ads : These are CPV (Cost Per View) ads. Full Page Ads appear in between two pages of a publisher’s site, usually after a visitor’s third pageview.
• Inline Ads : Texts within the content of your website will be double underlined and an ad will be shown when your visitors hover over those double underlined texts. These are paid on a CPC basis. A maximum of 8 words per page and no more than 1.6% of eligible text will be highlighted.
• BritePic : CPC based BritePic text ads will be shown when your visitors rollover the images you have selected for the BritePic ads. It’s a bit difficult to configure BritePic Ads and it increases your website’s load time as well.

Do they have a Referral Program?

Yes. You can earn money for referring new publishers and advertisers to AdBrite. You’ll earn 50% of AdBrite’s profits for the first 3 months after a referred user creates an account, and 10% of AdBrite’s profit for the next 9 months after that. Note the percentage is of “AdBrite’s profits” and not of “the amount that your referral earns”.

How and when do they pay?

AdBrite pays by checks only. The minimum amount you need to earn before you can request a check is 5 dollars. Changing that amount to a higher number is desirable to lessen bank charges.

AdBrite issues payments in US Dollars, two months (net-60) after you accrue them. For example, earnings you generated in Feb. 2009, will get paid out in May 2009. What that means is, AdBrite takes time to pay.

Cons:

1. People have reported that their AdBrite earnings were very much less when compared to their AdSense earnings for the same amount of traffic and for the same adspace.
2. Unlike AdSense, AdBrite is not a contextual Ad Network, so the ads displayed by AdBrite are sometimes irrelevant. Although, you are allowed to select a category for your website before ads start to appear on your website, but it seems that this mechanism does not prevent AdBrite from serving irrelevant ads at times. This problem can be taken care of if you choose to manually approve ads, but that will be a real pain in the ass, imagine going through a list of ads to approve or disapprove every morning after you wake up. However, every AdBrite publisher should manually approve ads for this is the only way to ensue that AdBrite serves relevant ads on their website(s). Get ready to take the pain in your ass!
3. AdBrite’s huge but the number of publishers intending to advertise on your website will not be huge in the beginning. My personal experience tells that, when you start with AdBrite, your visitors will encounter a lot of “Your Ad Here” messages rather than the actual ads, specially when they are from non-us countries. No ads implies no clicks implies no income. However, if your visitors become interested in placing ads on your website, they can use the “Your Ad Here” link to book your adspace from AdBrite.
4. AdBrite only allows English websites to take part in their publisher program.

Best Suited for:

• People who have been banned from Google AdSense.
• People who are looking for advertisers willing to put flat rate ads on their website but don’t want to go through the hectic billing process.

• The ContentLink technology that they so much flaunt about has some flaws. For example, if you have a page about windows XP, you shouldn’t take it as a big deal if the ContentLink double underlines the word “windows” which is then linked to an ad related to Window glasses.
• If you write sponsored posts on your blog, you won’t be able to add ContentLink ads on your sponsored post as advertisers who asked you to write the post would not let you do that. In that case, you will need to use this WP plugin from Kontera. Without the WP plugin from Kontera installed, you would risk getting banned from networks who pay you for writing sponsored reviews.
• Since the blogger has very little control over where the double underlined links would appear, the double underlined links at times can be distracting to regular readers.
• Kontera does not have a good reporting system as compared to other big players.

WidgetBucks web site states:

We have noticed that well-placed, contextual WidgetBucks ads can yield over very high eCPM, in many cases over $6 eCPM.

I guess whatever their web site states is true because for 4 clicks, I have managed to make $1.35 at around 0.34 per click, which is not bad at all, so if you can get 20 people out of 1000 to click on your WidgetBucks widget, you can make $6.8, which corresponds with the “over $6 eCPM” stated by WidgetBucks at their web site. However, bear in mind that WidgetBucks is useless if your traffic is not coming from a country listed in the PPC list above. Traffic from countries listed in the CPM list give you around 10 cents per 1000 impressions which is…..BAD.

How do they pay?

Does WidgetBucks have a referral system?

YES.

When you refer a new WidgetBucks user, you will receive a 5 percent referral fee based on the commissions earned by the people you refer. You’ll receive this 5 percent for the full 12 months after the new member joins.

Can I use WidgetBucks with AdSense?

AdSense’s TOS state that other ads may be placed on the same page displaying AdSense ads, as long as they are distinguishable from AdSense ads. Any downsides?

Yes, publishers have complained about the loading time of the flash widget. Test different widgets on your page and if they really load late, try putting the widget somewhere towards the middle or the lower part of your page because that would make sure that the widget would load by the time your visitor reaches there.

BidVertiser manually reviews and approves each website you submit to them. This process usually gets completed within 48 hours. During the time when your website is not approved, your ad spots will display the default BidVertiser ads. BidVertiser serves text and image ads which are of various sizes, including banners, buttons, skyscrapers and inline ads.  They also give you the option to design one by yourself. You can customize the ads to match the look and feel of your website which ensures higher conversions.

If you are a blogger, you would be happy to know that BidVertiser allows you to monetize your RSS/ATOM feeds as well. After a few steps of registration and feed verification, you will be able to show BidVertiser CPC ads in your feeds.

While most of you might think BidVertiser is not a good option when a better option like Adsense is around, BidVertiser has some advantages over Adsense. I will discuss about the pros and cons of BidVertiser in regards to Adsense in this post, let’s start with the pros:

1. BidVertiser works very well for publishers of flash websites. Unlike Google Adsense, BidVertiser does not serve contextual ads. BidVertiser uses a 3rd generation bidding-based system where advertisers directly bid on the ad space of your website finding them out by browsing categories. This means no “bot work” to find the keywords to match the ads with, which means flash websites can join BidVertiser and the ads served on flash websites will match up better with the content of the website.
2. Adsense determines the price-per-click by the keywords, not by the quality of your website which implies your high-quality website will get the same price-per-click as other low-quality websites, just because you have similar contents. BidVertiser uses a 3rd generation bidding-based system which means the price-per-click you get is based on the quality and popularity of your website. The more popular and appealing your site is, the more people bid for the ad space on your website and the higher price-per-click you will get.
3. Adsense ads are served according to keywords – this gives you no control over the ads that will be displayed on your website. While in BidVertiser, you have full control over the ads displayed on your website. BidVertiser enables you to filter-out any unwanted ads. You can view all the ads running on your website, their CPC, title, description and URL. Adsense doesn’t show these. You can block and approve the ads any time. Prior to your own filtering, each ad needs to be pre-approved by the fellows at BidVertiser.
4. Referral Earnings: When a user uses your referral link and signs as a publisher and first earns $10, BidVertiser credits your account with $10. When that same publisher earns $50, you will be credited with an additional $40. Similarly, when a user signs as an advertiser and first spends $10, they’ll credit your account with $5. When that same advertiser spends $50, you will be credited with an additional $20. Adsense does not pay any referral earnings anymore.
5. BidVertiser instantly pays to your PayPal account when your account balance reaches $10, or via check when your account balance reaches $50. That means, if you live in a PayPal accepted country, BidVertiser lets you get payments fast. Adsense payment threshold is $100 which takes more time to reach.
6. BidVertiser does not ban you like the way Adsense does. They are more liberal.
7. No phone and pin verifications.

There are some disadvantages as well :

1. You cannot turn off the “Your Ad Here” ads shown in the place of regular BidVertiser ads. You’ll however get paid up to $25 for every advertiser who joins BidVertiser using those links.
2. Google offers more payment options like Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Western Union Quick Cash or Rapida, BidVertiser does not.

BidVertiser has one of the best reporting systems, so you can easily track who clicked what and how much you made for that click. Like Google, BidVertiser also does not stand fraudulent activities. Remember to go through BidVertiser TOS very thoroughly before or after you join them.

What’s the minimum payout and how do they pay?

I have talked about this earlier but I have some more to add. The minimum account balance that you need to reach before you can cash out is only 10 dollars if you want to cash out through PayPal. For check, the option to cash out is when the account balance reaches 50 dollars. They send your check by registered mail. If your account balance is less than the payment threshold limit at the end of a month, they’ll roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Payments are done on a monthly basis within 30 days after the end of each calendar month. I received my first payment from them sometime back. Here’s the BidVertiser payment proof.

To join Google Adsense, you need to have a website that complies with Google Adsense Program Policies. Those policies are not that tough and your website should get approved unless you are publishing something illegal. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate. After you register with them, you need to wait till the fellows at Google approve your website. Then you can get Ad codes from the Google Adsense site and place them at desired spots on your website. Once you have pasted the code on your page, ads will instantly start appearing. Google Adsense serves contextual ads, which means the advertisement shown in the webpage is relevant to the content of the webpage. Google serves both text as well as image ads. Color, size and font of the ads are customizable which means you can customize the ads to match the look and feel of your website which ensures higher conversions.

Google Adsense has one of the best reporting systems, so you can easily track who clicked what and how much you made for that click.

Google does not stand fraudulent activities. Remember to go through Google Adsense TOS very thoroughly before or after you join them. There are rules to be followed and if you don’t, Google would send you a bye bye email and kick you out. I don’t use Google Adsense anymore because I was not serious earlier, messed with them and got banned. Here’s my story of getting banned from Google Adsense.

Earlier, you were not allowed to run other contextual ads on the same page of your website that contained Google Adsense ads, however non-contextual ads from other systems were allowed. Now you can run ads from any other ad networks (contextual or non-contextual) with Google Adsense contextual ads provided that:

1. The TOS of other ad systems you choose allows ads served by other contextual ads system (like Google Adsense) to run on the same page.
2. The look and feel of the Google Adsense Ads you place on your website is not similar to that of other ads you are serving on your website.
