If you are an Affiliate Marketer using a WordPress blog and you rely on search engine traffic for your leads and sales, here’s a tweak that will boost your leads and sales.

Mostly, affiliate programs are tied to countries, that is, leads from designated countries fetch you money and others strictly don’t, which means there’s no point showing your banners or links from affiliate programs tied to certain countries to all your visitors. Opting to show banners from affiliate programs only to the right visitors that carry the potential to fetch you money is a better idea.

Making use of WordPress plugins like Ozh’s IP To Nation or WP-IP2Nation-Installer can help you display banners or links depending on where your visitors are coming from. Both these WordPress plugins guess the visitor’s location from his/her IP address.

Let’s now see how these plugins can help you:

Case 1: Say, you are promoting 3 affiliate programs that require you to generate leads to fetch you money. Let’s assume one of them counts sign-ups from American visitors as valid leads, other requires British sign-ups and the last one requires Australian sign-ups. Tell me, what’s the use of showing the banners meant for British and Australian visitors to visitors from the US and so on? Is it not better not to show any banners than showing banners that won’t fetch you any money?

Case 2: Say, you are again promoting 3 affiliate programs and you have only one 468 X 60 space left on your blog where you can show the banners of the affiliate programs. You obviously cannot fit three 468 X 60 banners in the same space. May be a Ad Rotator will do but it’s better if you are able to show the right banners to the right people rather than rotating through useless banners, ain’t it?

In both the cases discussed above, a location finder WordPress Plugin will come handy.

So, grab one of the two plugins I mentioned earlier and start using one of them so that you can serve proper banners to your visitors. Proper targeting almost always ensures better results.

If you don’t want to go through the work of downloading and running SQL script on your Database Server, use WP-IP2Nation-Installer plugin. It installs the database required for location detection when you install the plugin itself which is better if you ain’t have ideas on how to run SQL script on your database server.

If you use Ozh’s IP To Nation, though you will need to download a SQL script from www.ip2nation.com and run the SQL script via phpMyAdmin on your database server, you will be able to have a fresher database for improved IP to location detection.

Even if you opt to use WP-IP2Nation-Installer, I suggest you to get the latest SQL script from www.ip2nation.com to ensure you have a fresher database.

Happy Affiliate Marketing and Happy Blogging with WordPress !
